Mission
Titus II Ministries is a nonprofit (501c3), interdenominational Christian organization that equips the local church to recognize and meet the spiritual needs of the elderly.
Purpose
We believe that all Christians should understand that the elderly are just as important and highly valued in God’s sight as any other people or ministry. We also believe that Christians who have the passion and calling to serve the elderly should be given an opportunity to do so. Titus II exists to educate the church about the needs of the elderly, to motivate and equip local churches to serve the elderly, and to establish and support connections between local churches and nearby elderly communities.
Why
The Bible instructs the church to exhort and encourage all Christians to press on in the ministries to which God has called them. An excellent example of answering this call can be seen when Caleb said, “Here I am today, 85 years old!” he announced, “I am still strong...now give me this hill country.” () Caleb was not only rewarded for his past obedience to God, but was given strength to serve him well past what we today would consider his prime. We err in both the church and society when we place artificial restrictions on our citizens based on age or disability. Though their abilities may differ from what we are familiar with, they are equally significant and important.
Potential
The United States saw rapid growth in its elderly population during the twentieth century. The number of Americans aged 65 and older climbed above 34.6 million in 1999, compared with 3.1 million in 1900. For the same years, the ratio of elderly Americans to the total population jumped from 1 in 25 to 1 in 8. The trend is guaranteed to continue in this century, as the baby-boom generation grows older. Between 1990 and 2020, the population aged 65 to 74 is projected to grow 74 percent.
